Radio Habana Cuba 2023 pocket calendar with the image of Carlos Puebla

The Radio Habana Cuba 2023 pocket calendar, illustrated with the portrait of the Singer of the Cuban Revolution, Carlos Puebla that the Ecuadorian painter Oswaldo Guayasamín made in his home in Quito, will be presented at the Guayasamín House Museum in Havana, this  Friday, February 10 at 3 in the afternoon.

All attendees to the event will receive a copy of the small work of art, which was published in Madrid thanks to the solidarity of our friend Gabriel Navarrete Martínez, President of the Spanish Association for Culture and International Cooperation and Honorary Member of the Guayasamín Foundation.

Fabián Betancourt, director of the Guayasamín House Museum, announced that the original work of the Ibero-American painter, made at his home in Quito on September 7, 1961, will be shown to the public that day at the headquarters of the House Museum, located on Calle Obrapía No. 111, between Oficios and Mercaderes streets, in the Historic Center of Havana.

The Oswaldo Guayasamín House Museum was founded on January 8, 1993 with the presence of Commander Fidel Castro Ruz, the City Historian, Eusebio Leal, and the Ecuadorian artist, and has been on many occasions the place where the Guayasamín Foundation and Radio Habana Cuba have presented the small illustrated pocket calendars with portraits by the notable Ecuadorian painter.

On this occasion, the presentation of the new pocket calendar will be a contribution to the tribute paid for the Centennial of the Cuban scientist Antonio Núñez Jiménez, author of the historic trip IN CANOES FROM THE AMAZON TO THE CARIBBEAN, which had the enthusiastic support of his friend Oswaldo Guayasamín, the only painter for whom Commander Fidel Castro posed four times in Havana. Antonio Núñez Jiménez, an Honorary Member of the Guayasamín Foundation, was born in Alquízar on April 20, 1923 and that same year, but in Santiago de Cuba, José Ramón Fernández, also an Honorary Member of the Guayasamín Foundation, was born on November 4. And both posed for Guayasamín and their portraits were turned into pocket calendars for Radio Habana Cuba, in the years 2018 and 2020, respectively.
