According to Prensa Latina, during a working visit to the University of Guantanamo (UG), the diplomat assessed as positive the results of one of the programs promoted by the institution with the support of the Kingdom of Belgium and executed for more than half a million euros.

The aim of the agreement is to increase the production of high quality cocoa, for a chocolate that is positioned in the international market and especially in that nation, where the product is highly valued and consumed.
Alberto Turro, rector of the UG, explained the results obtained in the project after the implementation of new technologies and the training of professors and of staff linked directly to production.
Baracoa, a Guantanamo municipality located in the northeastern end of Cuba, is the largest cocoa area in the country, with more than 75 percent of plantations, and it is also the largest producer and exporter of chocolate and other derivatives.
