The meeting brings together representatives of the 25 member nations of the association, the seven associate members states, and 21 countries and nine organizations that serve as observers, and other guests.
Established in 1994, AEC’s main objective is to promote consultation, cooperation and concerted action among all the countries of the Caribbean.
On Wednesday, Deputy Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Rafael Zamora, said that it is expected that this year’s high-level meeting makes an important political contribution to the unity, cooperation, peace and the defense of the sovereignty of the peoples of the region.
