Congo Prime Minister Ends Official Visit to Cuba

As part of his working schedule, the head of the Congolese government spoke with Cuban First Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel, about the historical and fraternal political relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Both officials reiterated their willingness to maintain and expand bilateral ties, and exchanged views on several issues of the international agenda.

Mouamba toured the Jose Marti Memorial at the capital’s Revolution Square, where he condemned the economic, commercial and financial siege the United States has maintained against Cuba.

The head of government also spoke with the President of the Cuban National Assembly (Parliament), Esteban Lazo.

As a culmination of his visit, which he started on April 12th, Mouamba paid tribute to former Congolese President, Marien Ngouabi, at the park of the African Heroes.

Cuba and the Republic of Congo established diplomatic relations more than 50 years ago. More than 2,000 Congolese youths are currently studying in Cuba, most of them to becom doctors.
