Ban Ki-moon noted his satisfaction to be visiting the island again and reiterated Cuba’s contribution to the peace process. The two leaders highlighted the importance of the agreements and that of the UN Mission responsible for monitoring and verifying the ceasefire and laying down of arms process. They also addressed issues of mutual interest on the multi-lateral agenda.
Ban Ki-moon was accompanied by Martha Doggett, director for the Americas at the UN Political Affairs department; Myrta Kaulard UN resident coordinator in Cuba and Chang Wook-Jin, special assistant to the UN Secretary General. Participating on the Cuban side was Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.
