Workers from the Territorial Division of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (Etecsa) in the province of Holguín installed 11 radio bases for mobile telephony, which will contribute to improving communications by expanding these services and data traffic capacity.
Currently, the entity has a group of its members who are teleworkers and who guarantee the vitality of the telecommunications services from their homes, by means of the location of these new radio bases, declared to the ACN Iliana Fernández, specialist in institutional communication in the entity.
In the capital of the province, she explained, six of these units were put into operation, both 2G and 3G technology, located in the Mariana de la Torre medical office, the José Martí Pre-Vocational Institute of Exact Sciences, the People’s Power Construction Company and the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School.
The investments on this front include the radio bases located at the Empresa Constructora de Obras de Ingeniería and the existing water treatment plant in the Alcides Pino district, she said.
In Moa, one of the municipalities with the greatest geographical extension and with the most users in the province, three nodes B LTE were integrated, belonging to the fourth generation (4G), among them the José Martí Basic Secondary School and the Miraflores Hotel.
The technology was also installed in the town of Uñas, in the coastal municipality of Gibara, and in the Ramon de Antilla International Economic Association, said Fernandez.
The province of Holguin currently has 122 radio bases distributed in all municipalities, in the different technologies of mobile telephony, such as 2G, 3G and 4G, where the latter stands out with more than 41 located nodes.
These actions have allowed the evacuation of data traffic from the new packages offered by Etecsa and the migration from 3G, being perceptible, in this sense, an improvement in the city of Holguín of the data transmission service, she said.
