The radio US aggression and the president’s visit

Obama will welcome to Cuba and get in on 21 and 22 March next hospitality that characterizes the Cuban people and government, were the first statements by a senior official at Cuba’s Foreign Ministry, Josefina Vidal, who has been present throughout the process towards normalization of relations between the two countries.

And as there is no date on the calendar throughout the year in that no imperialist action against the peoples of our America appears, remember that the March 21, 1960 the radial US aggression against Cuba made official, because that day came air on “Appointment with Cuba” program, broadcast by the official radio station “Voice of America”.

As of May 20, 1985 the radio aggression escalated with the creation of a radio none other than the name of the Apostle of Cuban independence, José Martí, which joined a few years later misnamed TV Martí, both generously funded until today by the government of the United States.

But March 21 is also the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, established by the UN in tribute to the victims of “The Slaughter of Chaperville” a day like that of 1966 in South Africa, the country where 10 December 2013, at the funeral of the unforgettable Nelson Mandela, was greeted first presidents Raul Castro and Barack Obama.

And as stated by the historian of Havana Eusebio Leal, the story has moments of light and moments of darkness. Hopefully the visit to Cuba of a US president, after nearly ninety years old, bring more positives than negatives so you can continue the long and difficult road of both countries towards full normalization of their relations, without blockades or military bases, no media wars aimed at subverting the internal order and bring about change system and with full respect for the sovereignty and dignity of both peoples.
