It may be false or truthful information, all within an overwhelming dynamic that is capable of segmenting criteria based and enthroning opinions, on occasions of scarce objectivity, by inducing, overlapping and also manipulating large masses. In short: Internet social networks are today a “field” of unlimited scope where the war in the field of ideas is stronger than ever.
Not in vain, the great emporiums of the United States dominating cyberspace invest millions of dollars in material resources and recruiting intelligence means to benefit from the use of Internet algorithms. These assume the role of a tool of advance technology to find out how people think, what their interests and circles of relationships are, and how preferences behave, all of which constitute the essential factors in appreciating the actions carried out by human beings.
In trying to dominate this field, they expect to conceive collective manipulation strategies, promote electoral campaigns, sow opinion matrixes in order to justify certain ends. A kind of “real and invisible” power that in the case of the United States, is used against peoples to the purpose of undermining their ways of action or thought and thus, through the virtual platform and the media in general, induce the target people to disapprove all that may come from governments that have been legitimized by the majorities, and thereby generate social responses supporting their interests of intervention and the establishment of neoliberal, perverse platforms.
Based on those factors and in addition, in a scenario now confronting Covid-19, it is of great importance for our people not to underestimate for a second that we are one of the “testing fields” for such policies where the so-called Force of Task operates on the Internet with the purpose of subverting the internal order in Cuba, and where media communication is an indispensable complement in promoting that purpose.
At this very moment, circulating in our social networks with Facebook as the tip of the iceberg, are countless criteria or opinions, most of them backing up an unprecedented human battle of extraordinary ethics because it deals with saving lives, with solidarity and support because a quite significant group of compatriots have taken up the “fight” in high-risk areas.
There are people who manage to walk on the razor’s edge, acting along an undefined path, playing with our enemies, on the one side, while on the other not taking sides in favor of the country’s efforts in the fight against Covid-19.
Others attack each and every measure or declare themselves in contempt or issue points of view that undermine ideas, concepts, without arguments at all, but with definitions transcending the limits to eventually end in total disrespect.
Adding “fuel to the fire” based on allegedly revolutionary positions, through Internet social networks, is to play the game of our enemies who, precisely, have the purpose of dividing to overcome. However, the real focus should be placed on assuming the new challenges derived from so many and varied contents, holding a better preparation and thus be able to generate convincing arguments to help guide and objectively inform people and thereby induce them to think.
The history of the long-standing struggle against the greatest Empire on the planet has taught us not to trust imperialism, as Che once said, “you cannot trust imperialism, but not even a bit like this, nothing.”
