CARICOM-Cuba Summit, new integration links

These objectives are part of the strategic five-year plan agreed at the previous summit by members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). Similarly, both parties advocate further dialogue and review the bilateral cooperation.

Cuba and the regional bloc maintained a firm position of mutual respect and since 2002 performed summits every three years to review various collaborative programs, and comply with its integrationist premise.

In the event this December 8 the opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen economic relations more consistent CARICOM-Cuba, with the process of updating the economic model that performs the island emerges also.

The government of President Raul Castro has repeatedly thanked the solidarity shown by CARICOM to acts harmful to the economic and social development of Cuba, such as the US blockade and the extraterritorial application of US laws.
