Cuban Singer-Songwriter to Honor Guayasamin in Ecuador

The Cuban artist who has written songs such as “Como los peces” and “Los hijos de Guillermo Tell” will perform along with other outstanding singers from Latin America. They include Argentinean León Gieco, the Chilean Inti-Illimani and Quilapayún, and Spaniards Luis Eduardo Aute, Ana Belén and Víctor Manuel.
After the concert, Varela and his band will travel to the EEUU, where he will attend the Red Hot + Cuba Festival, as a guest, to be held from November 30 to December 1st in New York’s Opera House.
The Cuban musician will perform both days along with Cuban singers Kelvis Ochoa, David Torrens and Cuban trumpet Alexander Abreu.
Red Hot is an international organization created in 1989 to fight AIDS through the popular culture. This time, Red Hot will join the Brooklyn Academy of Music to hold World AIDS Day on December 1st while paying a tribute to Cuban music.
