In the history of Cuba in 1867 states that the conspiracy of a group of patriots who aspire to found a free nation of Spain begins. Faced with the threat of being discovered, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes y Lopez del Castillo, gathers his followers on the farm “The Demajagua” with the purpose of furthering the independence uprising on October 10, 1868.
Cuban philately recalls, through the cancellation of stamps, the historic uprising in “The Demajagua” where Céspedes freed his slaves and urged them to fight for the sovereignty of the island.
From the first decade of the twentieth century in the teaser dedicated to the Presidents of the Republic in Arms, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes is the first to be reflected. These stamps have a face value of $ 0.01 cent.
In 1996, a monochromatic emission of stamps dedicated to the Patriots of the American Revolution is. The image showing the Father of the Nation is green in color, with a face value of $ 0.15 cents.
Celebrating its 100th anniversary of the end of the War of Independence against Spanish colonialism in 1998, a commemorative full-color edition is done. The seal that marks its beginning proposes the image of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes while giving freedom to the slaves and invited fighting, October 10, 1868.
