On the occasion of the death of Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, Historian of the City of Havana, the President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez has decreed official mourning, from 00:00 hours to 24:00 hours of August 1, 2020.
During the official mourning period, the flag of the lone star will be raised at half-mast in public buildings and military institutions. Dr. Leal passed in the Cuban capital on Friday. He was 77.
According to an official note, in agreement with Leal’s family, his ashes will be preserved so that when the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control, a well-deserved tribute to acknowledge his extraordinary contributions, will be held at the Havana Capitol, a landmark building he restored for the nation.
