Cuban Arlen López wins gold medal at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

The 28-year-old boxer from Guantanamo took the lead during the three rounds against Whittaker, a world bronze medalist in Yekaterinburg 2019.

On the way to gold in the 81 kg category, the already world and Olympic champion of the 75 kg, won by unanimous vote of the judges (5-0) the Algerian Mohammed Houmri, the Mexican Rogelio Romero and the Azeri of Cuban origin Lorenberto Alfonso.

With Arlenʼs medal, Cuban boxing already has two gold medals in Tokyo, totaling five gold, three silver and four bronze medals, which place it momentarily in position 13, among 11,352 representatives from 206 countries.
