During the interview, the Ambassador referred to the current situation in Cuba, the challenges facing the country due to the combined negative effects of the pandemic and the U.S. blockade, tightened to unprecedented levels even during the COVID-19 health emergency.
She delved into the harmful impact of this policy on the economy and the daily life of Cubans, and its rejection by the international community, which annually votes overwhelmingly in favour of the Cuban resolution ¨Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba¨.
Likewise, she denounced the ongoing campaign of disinformation and manipulation of the Cuban reality, which seeks to provoke a situation of instability and a social explosion with the purpose of justifying an intervention.
The Cuban diplomat also addressed the state of relations between Cuba and Canada, the challenges it faces during the pandemic and its prospects for development.
She thanked the Canadian government for the recent donation of medicines to treat COVID-19 and also the hundreds of friends in Canada who made possible the arrival in Cuba of an important shipment of syringes to support the vaccination campaign of the Cuban population.
