Cuba reports 18 positive cases to COVID-19, 47 new medical discharges and no deceased

At the end of yesterday, May 5, 2,341 patients have been admitted to hospitals for clinical epidemiological surveillance. Another 5,992 people are monitored in their homes, from the Primary Health Care.

One thousand 937 samples were studied for COVID-19, resulting in 18 positive samples. The country accumulates 59 thousand 648 samples made and thousand 703 positive.

The 18 new confirmed cases were Cuban, 15 were contacts of confirmed cases and in 3 the source of infection is not specified.

Of the 18 diagnosed cases, 10 (55.5%) were women and 8 men (44.4%). The most affected age groups were: those between 40 and 59 years old with 10 cases (55.5%), followed by those over 60 years old with 5 (27.7%) and those between 20 and 40 years old with 2 ( 11.1%). 77.7% (14) of the positive cases were asymptomatic.

The residence by provinces and municipalities of the 18 confirmed cases is:

• Havana: 8 cases (3 from San Miguel del Padrón, 2 from Marianao; Plaza, La Lisa and Diez de Octubre with 1 each)

• Mayabeque: 1 case (from San José de las Lajas)

• Villa Clara: 2 cases (from Santa Clara)

• Sancti Spíritus: 2 cases (from Taguasco)

• Ciego de Ávila: 2 cases (1 from the Ciego de Ávila municipality and 1 from Morón)

• Camagüey; 1 case (from Nuevitas)

• Holguín: 2 cases (from the municipality of Holguín)

Until May 5, 184 countries with cases of COVID-19 are reported with 3 million 544 thousand 222 confirmed cases (+ 76 thousand 901) and 250 thousand 977 deaths (+ 3 thousand 998) for a fatality of 7.08% (- 0.04).

In the region of the Americas one million 513 thousand 928 confirmed cases are reported (+ 37 thousand 986), 42.72% of the total cases reported in the world, with 87 thousand 232 deaths (+ thousand 972) and fatality of 5 , 76% (- 0.02).
